My purpose in adding this to my website is to bring attention to this much misunderstood “syndrome”. It’s often said to be psychological in nature—an excuse that people use to withdraw from life. To my current chagrin I once thought that too, until I got it.

Fibromyalgia is a state of widespread musculoskeletal pain which never eases, chronic fatigue, and is often accompanied by anxiety, insomnia, and other unpleasant symptoms. On good days you feel as though you have a mild case of the flu. On bad days you feel as though you have a bad case of the flu. Sometimes going to bed is the only relief, but staying in bed for more than a few hours only makes it worse. There is no known cure at this time.

It is often triggered after going through a long period of extreme stress, which is what happened to me. I was diagnosed in 2011

and since that time have experienced the loss of “quality of life” which accompanies this syndrome.

Prescription medications cause side effects, so I don’t take them. I’m sorry I can’t recommend anything to those reading this who may have fibromyalgia, but I can recommend what helps me most. And that is prayer and trust in God.

It’s just a matter of saying, “Please help me get through this day.” And somehow I find myself being able to do what I need to do each day.  God hasn’t taken away the symptoms, He’s just enabled me to get through them. It’s a miracle a day, plain and simple.

Please know that I’m NOT recommending that anyone not take their medication! It does work for some people and that is fine.
